Side note: with the consent of the storyteller, one or two family members are also welcome to be present for the interview to ask some specific questions. Or, they can share those questions with me in advance.

If you go with me, part of my personal approach is focusing less on what the interviewer wants to ask and more on getting to the essence of what the storyteller themselves might like to share. In my experience this tends to create a more organic and authentic interview outcome. I do this with utmost respect and honour for your lived experiences.

It's my experience that everyone has a story (and many stories!) that are worthy of a film and a cinematic sound score. But you do not have to worry about coming prepared with "a story" or memorized answers. If you are unsure of what you want to say...it will be my job as a producer to ask helpful questions that can prompt details, memories and lessons from your life. As some that loves listening to and learning from others experiences and stories, you can trust I will bring genuine curiosity and interest. You're in good hands don't worry!

That being said, if you'd still like some advanced questions ahead of time to begin thinking about what you might like to share on camera, then I would be happy to provide some of those questions in advance. And I also welcome you sharing with me in advance any topics and themes you wish to discuss. I look forward to collaborating together on this!

The creation of a legacy film may be initiated privately by a senior that wants to surprise their family with gift of their story and message. Or a creation of a legacy film might be initiated by a family member wanting to preserve their loved ones story and influence, now and for years to come (its important you check with your family member that they want to do this before reaching out to me).
