DOCUMENTARY

Are you an individual or group wanting to make an issue, character or history documentary? Or perhaps you're a nonprofit organization or policy research group that who would like a short film to accompany a multi year report? Do you have some funding and a vision for a film, but not necessarily the experience, skills or interest in producing it yourself?

Consider reaching out to Rebel Sky Media with your idea to see if we might be a good fit together in producing your next film. Often clients and community groups have chosen Rebel Sky Media to direct and produce a film from its concept to completion while maintaining ownership or executive producer status over the finished film. Its now your film and story to put out to the world. We love these kinds of partnerships and would be excited to take your next idea from an idea to the big screen! Send a message on the contact page.

In Winnipeg's inner city, and espcially in West Broadway and Spence neighbourhoods, older homes converted to rooming houses are an important type of housing for many people living on low incomes. However, rooming houses are fast disappearing due to an uncoordinated policy and regulatory framework and market pressures. In addition, there are many day-to-day problems associated with rooming houses related to challenges of poverty and aging houses. Research finds that these inter-related issues should be dealt with together (CMHC 2002). See the full report: https://www.policyalternatives.ca/publications/reports/rooming-houses-rooming-homes

What is the Royal Proclamation of 1763? Most Canadians have never heard of it, yet the Proclamation is a part of Canada's Constitution, and for many Indigenous peoples, it is the 'Magna Carta' of our Treaty tradition. What significance does it have today? Join a delegation of Indigenous leaders and church guests as they journey to London, England to mark the 250th Anniversary of the Royal Proclamation and to meet with the British Crown. Discover why this old legislation matters not only to Indigenous peoples, but also to settler Canadians. • For a discussion guide on the documentary, see www.mennonitechurch.ca/tiny/2375

My very first documentary short, filmed in Northern Iraq in 2010.  This was filmed on tape and before I owned an HD camera. This small video remains a very important project for both the lessons learned that still shape my career, the challenges of dealing with difficult material, and the opportunity to meet some remarkable people in Kurdistan.
